TRANSPORTED TO THE GREAT GATSBY ERA.
As soon as you walk into this bar you feel as though you have been transported back to the 1920’s Great Gatsby era. This cocktail bar is brilliantly decorated in an art deco theme. Clearly, there has been a lot of attention to detail with the design and setup.

Upon entering we were asked to take a seat and then were brought across some distinguished black drink menus, a dainty bowl of popcorn and a couple glasses of cucumber water – immediately we felt welcomed and relaxed. It is evident that this venue prides itself on its service and we could noticeably feel this was implemented from the top down.

The cocktails are in line with the theme of the bar and have a very vintage feel about them. They are classics done very well. In particular, I enjoyed the Charlie Chaplin (Sloe Gin, Apricot Liqueur and Lime), this drink was said to have been invented for him at the Waldorf Astoria in New York. Each drink has a little historical note or famous quote which I think is a nice touch on the menu, and another example of the attention to detail in this place. All the cocktails are between £8-9 which is reasonable for me considering the atmosphere and setting they have succeeded to create at Fontaine’s Bar.
Whilst we were soaking the ambience and enjoying our drinks we were also invited to the Bamboo Lounge which is the basement bar area at Fontaine’s Bar. Here they were showing a film in their private cinema area with sofa seating. We were told once a month they hold a screening of a cult/classic film which is free to view. In keeping with their theme they also have swing and cabaret events dotted throughout the year, which I’m sure would be particularly fun with a few timeless cocktails in hand.

Fontaine’s Bar really did surprise me with how well it has been designed throughout, the clean & charming cocktails and first class service provided by the team. If you are around the area, then this bar is worth the visit. I’m surprised it hasn’t already gained more notoriety on the London cocktail scene.
