GREENWICH PENINSULA GOLF RANGE – Great Fun & Spectacular Views

GREAT FUN & SPECTACULAR VIEWS.

A short 5-minute walk from North Greenwich Station is the Greenwich Peninsula Golf Range. This venue offers golf enthusiasts and beginners the chance to drive balls against London’s cityscape back drop.

Bays can be booked by the hour for a very reasonable £10 before 5pm or £12 after this time. For each hour booking slot, you are provided with 120 balls to hit into the distance. The range allows you to use your own clubs or you can rent an Iron (£2 per club) or Wood (£5 per club). Depending on how busy it is you can take the pick of the bays either upstairs or downstairs. If the venue is busy and you are waiting for a bay, then there is a restaurant with bar area manned by very friendly staff. Outside seating is available and is great for a few drinks if the sun is out.

“THE BAYS ARE WELL DESIGNED AND INCLUDE A TABLE & SOFA FOR YOUR GROUP TO FULLY RELAX”

The bays are well designed and include a table & sofa for your group to fully relax. The driving range does have table service at the bays which is an added convenience. The bay food menu consists of snacks including scotch eggs, cod croquettes and sharing boards.

The atmosphere in both the bay areas and restaurant is fairly relaxed. The crowd is a mixture of golf aficionados practising their swings and groups of friends out to have fun and try something different.

To fully appreciate the surroundings, I would recommend booking an evening slot. Personally the view of the London skyline at night has always been a favourite of mine. The lit up sky scrapers are an incredible scene.

For those looking to improve their golf technique, lessons are also available from professional instructors. To begin with a player evaluation session is priced at £19.99 for an hour. This aims to find your strengths and weaknesses as a player. There is also a shop on site if you need to purchase and new golfing gear.

Greenwich Peninsula Golf Driving Range also offers corporate and private booking options. I think this venue would be great for a work social or for a group of friends looking for a new hobby.

Also worth noting is the onsite restaurant called Vinothec Compass. This place really holds its own in terms of food and atmosphere, with the bonus of the spectacular views of London. As you can imagine by the name of the place they have a wide range of great wines to accompany the food on offer. Dishes on the menu range from Pork Belly with Apple Sauce, Potato & Celeriac Gratin (£16) to Basque Style Cod Loin, Roasted Peppers and Cherry Tomatoes (£17). If you are booking a slot at the golfing range, then I would certainly advise having some food and drinks at this restaurant.
