WELL WORTH EVERY PENNY.
This golden toned Welsh single malt is one of the most under-appreciated whiskies being distilled in the UK today. The original Penderyn whisky is distilled via a unique copper still pot process. It is then matured in ex-bourbon barrels before finally being finished in ex-Madeira wine casks.
The distinctive distillation procedure delivers a single malt whisky that is smooth, light in character and delicately golden in colour. Penderyn has a beautifully balanced taste and a classic freshness, with aromas of cream toffee, rich fruit and raisins. The reason I enjoy this whisky so much is that it is fitting for a summers day. Often whiskies can be quite hard-hitting but this Welsh gem has a subtle quality.
“BROUGHT THE LOST ART OF WHISKY MAKING BACK TO WALES”
The strong pedigree of this bottle is reinforced by the gold awards received at the International Whisky Competition in 2012, 2013 & 2014. Online you will be able to pick up a bottle of Penderyn Whisky Madeira (46% ABV) at a reasonable £30-35 depending on your choice of retailer.

For those of you who prefer a smokier whisky, there is also a Penderyn Peated limited edition available at around £45-50. This version is instead finished in an ex-peated Scotch Whisky cask and only around 5,000 bottles will be produced annually.
The Penderyn distillery has brought the lost art of whisky making back to Wales, and in the process has created a modern day classic that is well worth every penny.
