THE ALCHEMIST – Lively Atmosphere & Whimsical Cocktails

LIVELY ATMOSPHERE & WHIMSICAL COCKTAILS.

A night at The Alchemist will not disappoint. This delightful cocktail bar and restaurant is based near Liverpool Street and has been so successful that the brand has opened more venues across London.

On first appearance The Alchemist menu may look like a periodic table and you may even have flash backs to your GCSE science class. However, on closer inspection the menu contains a number of imaginative cocktails. This includes the novel ‘Colour Changing One’ (Reyka vodka, apple, soda, citrus and magic) which is pretty self-explanatory. Also, The Mad Hatters (Ketel One vodka, citrus, St. Germain, Cointreau, summer fruits and Science) sharing cocktail is quite theatrical.

Most of the cocktails are priced between £8-10 which is pretty standard for the area, but the drinks themselves are definitely not run of the mill. One of my personal favourites was the Caramelised Run Punch (Appleton Signature rum, Grand Marnier, watermelon, lime, pineapple, and Fire). Also, keep an eye out for some of the cocktails that are served in hip flasks which you can keep as a memento.

“IDEAL SPOT FOR AFTER WORK DRINKS OR TO CATCH UP WITH FRIENDS”

At the end of 2018 the owners spent over £250,000 refurbishing the bar to create the trademark ‘copper-case wonderland’ décor. Upon entering the softly lit venue the impressive main bar area will attract your gaze. There is also the gothic styled restaurant area on the raised floor. The layout helps to create an inviting atmosphere as soon as you walk into bar.

The Alchemist is an ideal spot for after work drinks or to catch up with friends. My tip would be to reserve a table in the restaurant area and order a few nibbles with your drinks as the bar can get very busy.

Better still if you are looking for a location for your next date night, then I would recommend booking a table for dinner. The food menu is an eclectic mix of cuisines and I’m sure you will find something that takes your fancy.

As mentioned The Alchemist has another venue in London, currently situated in St Martin’s Lane. They also have plans to open another bar in Old Street in Spring 2019. If they keep the same vibe and whimsical cocktails I’m sure they will soon become hot spots.

If you haven’t been to The Alchemist yet, then I suggest you rally up a few friends and get down to this venue as I’m certain it will impress.
